Standard substrate for cellulase activity testing, serving as a key reagent to evaluate catalytic performance of endoglucanase, exoglucanase and β-glucosidase, and support enzyme screening & biomass degradation studies.
As a carbon signaling molecule, cellotriose induces cellulose-degrading gene expression in fungi and bacteria.
It is also a certified reference standard for qualitative and quantitative analysis of cello-oligosaccharides by HPLC and TLC.

It is applied to explore intermediate metabolic pathways of lignocellulosic raw materials such as straw and wood chips for ethanol and biogas production, and optimize enzymatic hydrolysis technologies.
